The laid back experience is most prevalent here and Hatteras has a noticeably "chill" feel when compared to other parts of the OBX further north. You will enjoy a quiet vacation here and mainly find mom-and-pop shopping in the area. At the southern most point of Hatteras Island, you can drive your vehicle onto the ferry system that will take you Ocracoke Island.
